Why a Foundation?
To allow for the progress of fundamental and applied research in key sectors like the management of Non-Profit Organisations, (NPOs), and the Third Sector (voluntary organisations), to give a boost to young people coming from various horizons in helping them to access higher education, and to encourage companies to integrate corporate social responsibility in their activities…

To accompany Reims Management School in its development by taking part in the training of the young generations, to promote the improvement of the school’s resources and facilities in keeping with its international ambitions, to encourage the recognition of its academic excellence by the corporate and institutional partners…

These are the goals of the RMS Foundation, both ambitious and consistent with the citizen approach it aims at creating.

2007 was marked by two key events: the financing of the first 20 scholarships, involving all RMS programs, and the official launch of the Chair in Management of NPOs and Third Sector, which fit in with the school’s values of responsibility and commitment which are our founding principles.

I hope that 2008 will provide us with even more great achievements: a rise in the number of scholarships financed, the setting up of the new Chair’s first courses, the creation of new partnerships...

I sincerely thank you for your confidence.

Bernard Mary
President of Reims Management School Foundation

Official awards ceremony of the first 20 RMS scholarships
Official awards ceremony of the first RMS Foundation scholarships. These scholarships have been awarded according to two criteria: academic excellence and real financial need. They concern the whole range of programmes offered by the RMS Group. The award covers between 50 - 80% of the total year’s tuition fees. Click here for more

Launch of the Chair in Management of the NPOs and Third Sector
This chair, which will be managed by Laura Haddad, Permanent Professor of Marketing at RMS, will focus on four main research topics:
- Management/governance: how to deal with salaried staff and volunteers, how to introduce management techniques into the NPOs.
- Financial management tools: transparency and management rules, quality procedures and audits.
- Marketing: fundraising and communication techniques.
- Human resources issues: how to create bridges between commitment to the NPOs and reintegration into the corporate sector. Click here for more

Why did you choose to support the RMS Foundation?
20 years after graduating from RMS, it seemed important to me, even on a symbolic level, to take part in the RMS Foundation launch. After all, not only do I have excellent memories of those 3 years spent in Reims, but looking back, I now realise that my time in Reims determined my present choices. (Not only from a professional point of view either, since my wife comes from the Champagne region!).

For you, what are the most impressive actions realised by the RMS Foundation?
As an alumnus, I would definitely say the scholarships. On the one hand, everyone has noticed that tuition fees have increased in all business schools. The real question is: “Would every student from my promotion be able to apply today?” On the other hand, studies have demonstrated that the idea of elitism is on the increase in the top business schools based on the fact that that the overall number of places being offered has not increased as much as the number of students coming out with a Baccalauréat over the last 40 years. Lastly, I see that other business schools are launching similar initiatives in order to encourage diversity. Scholarships are undoubtedly the best way to achieve this goal.

What would you say to our future donors?
Indeed, we all paid tuition fees when we were students. However, if you think that your time spent in Reims has had a crucial impact on your life, and more importantly, that it is essential for the younger generation to benefit from the same opportunities as you did, then I would urge you to make a donation. I have the impression that the context is tougher now and more uncertain today. It means, therefore, that we have to show more solidarity and in particular, as far as access to higher education is concerned.
