• Scholarships
The funding of the second series of scholarships by the RMS Foundation was voted on 29 April 2008. 19 new scholarships amounting to a total of 95,889 euros were awarded to students on the following programmes: Sup de Co, Masters in International Financial Analysis, CESEM, SUP’TG and TEMA, for the 2008-2009 school year. The awards ceremony will be held at the end of 2008.
• Chair in Management of NPOs and Social Business
Laura Haddad, Head of the Chair, launched an exploratory study with students from SUP DE CO, CESEM and MBA programmes in order to find out about the perception of the NPOs and Third Sector and to set up an appropriate programme: modules, professional interventions, visits and case studies.
The first pilot committee of the Chair took place on 4th June. The major research focus areas were defined for 2008-2009:
• Focus on Human Resources: to create bridges between the NPOs and integration into the corporate sector and to favour the mobility of employees from the private sector towards the NPOs.
• Focus on “Facts and Figures in NPOs”: Publication of the study on young people and jobs in the NPO sector.
• Focus on Management and Governance: management of employees and volunteers, and well as introducing management techniques within the NPO structures.
Future work on the following areas will take place:
• Creation of a database for work placements and jobs specific to the sector
• A study of the needs and difficulties by the RMS student associations and the setting up of a partnership with the Junior Enterprise RMS
• The setting up of an internet site for the Chair

“Participating as a partner of Reims Management School in strategic decisions and working towards strengthening the awareness of the Reims Management School image and its diplomas”
…..are two of the objectives of the graduate network association, RMS-Network, according to its charter.
Having been at the origin of the RMS Foundation, the graduate network has played its role in allowing our school to avail of a new financing medium based on private funding. This funding is vital, even more so if we wish our diplomas to be those of a school within a European dimension. The RMS Foundation allows for the funding of scholarships and in so doing, can attract the best talent. It also allows for the funding of Chairs as the quality of research is a necessary criteria for the prestige of the school and hence its diplomas.
Donating to the RMS Foundation is a way to help our school spread its wings and avail of real assets in such a competitive world of further education. It is also means contributing to the spirit of the graduate network by expressing your pride in having carried out your studies at RMS.
You can certainly give a donation privately but you may also see how your company can contribute to the abundance of the projects by the RMS Foundation, some of which may be of interest to your field of business.

Vice-Chairman of the RMS Foundation

Why did you choose to support the RMS Foundation?
For three main reasons:
• The first was a "sentimental" one, linked to the good memories that I have of my time spent at Sup de Co Reims. Beyond the attitudes of that time (the student as a "consumer" of third level education) and looking back on the years of professional experience, I can now weigh up the importance of the significant added-value that this teaching represents in terms of acquiring fundamental skills, a global vision and working methods. I therefore feel genuine gratitude towards RMS, and I now wish to “return the favour”.
• The second reason is a personal interest in the citizen approach launched by RMS Foundation whose aim is to enlarge access to further education.
• The third reason is an attraction highlighted by the issues linked to research and further education, especially those concerning the quality of teaching in an ever-evolving and competitive context. Today, the French system of Business Schools, which has proved itself, is now facing strong competition forcing it to be innovative but also to diversify its sources of funding.
What particular action of the Foundation appeals to you?
• First, the funding of the scholarships, because it allows for what I would call an “enlightened elitism à la française”, aiming to have a better representation of French society in further education.
• Next, the development of new research programmes, essential in the context of strong international competition in which the universities and prestigious French schools of France are included. Reims Management School has understood that a strong policy in the development of Research is a real guarantee for the future.
• Lastly, the contribution to the improvement of the schools resources in order to provide RMS with the necessary tools for its development, especially on the international front.
What would you say to future donors?
I would strongly encourage the “alumni” from the different RMS programmes to support the RMS Foundation financially, and in doing so, to place their action within a “dynamic goodwill” uniting:
• The past, linked to one’s experience during their RMS studies.
• The present, with an immediate personal contribution to the fundraising project necessary for the development of RMS in a context of increasing international competition.
• The future, with a willingness to give even more value to the RMS diplomas of tomorrow and endowing the school with the place it deserves.

| >> Testimonies from the recipients of RMS Foundation scholarships |
Interview with Marc Nahas
recipient of an IMBA
scholarship 2007-08
What is your background?
I was born in Beirut. I carried out my studies in Beirut and Athens, and then at the University of St. Joseph, run by the Jesuits, where I did management studies. I then did my military service, going on to work for a German company based in Beirut specialised in industrial equipment, and was also working for them in Syria and Jordan.
At the same time I got involved as a volunteer for the Red Cross for nine years initially as a first-aid worker, then in charge of a first-aid centre, then as area manager in Beirut.
I then came to Reims to do an IMBA at RMS.
What has the RMS Foundation scholarship done for you?
After my research on MBAs, I was accepted at the same time in Reims, London and in Spain. I preferred to come to Reims for the close cultural links with France, as well as for the quality of the French educational system and its recognition on an international level. The second reason that motivated me was being awarded an RMS Foundation scholarship. The amount made a real difference compared to the other scholarships I had been offered.
What are your professional projects?
There is no geographical limit in my job search. However, I would prefer to stay in Western Europe. I hope to work in the management consultancy sector.
What message would you like to pass on to potential donors of the Foundation?
I would like to say to future donors that they can really make a difference to a person’s life. The person will remain ever grateful, because, having received, they will, in turn, always strive to do their best for others in one way or another.
I would like to thank the donors for the opportunity they gave me.
Interview with Anca Vasiloaica
recipient of an IMBA
scholarship 2007-2008
What is your background?
I am Romanian, originally from Sibiu, a city of 250,000 inhabitants. I did my university studies in the USA, at Mississippi State University thanks to a scholarship linked to my participation in the Women’s Tennis Team.
After my studies, I played tennis as a professional for two years in the USA. Then I went back to Romania. My last job was with a Spanish company, SEDATEX, (specialised in textiles), and I was the Sales Manager for Romania for three years.
I then came to Reims to do an IMBA and have been here since September 2007.
What has the RMS Foundation scholarship done for you?
Quite simply, without the scholarship I would not have been able to come and study here.
What are your professional projects?
I wish to stay in France or in Western Europe. I want to focus on a career in Consulting, Finance, or Business Development.
What message would you like to pass on to potential donors of the Foundation?
I would like to say to them that they can make a profound human gesture: by giving a person the chance to « become someone », to progress, to succeed professionally. For the donor, the reward for having helped someone to succeed in life is very great. It is more than just financial aid, it means believing in that person, having confidence in his potential.
I would again like to thank all the donors of the RMS Foundation.
