• 27 new grants and honor loans awarded
TThe Foundation’s last grant commission which met on October 29th in Reims awarded 27 grants and honor loans for an amount of €80,700. The beneficiaries were students from the following programs: Sup de Co, CESEM, TEMA and Sup’TG.

Voluntary work day
In addition to the implementation, of a voluntary work day for all first year students in cooperation with the management of Sup de Co, the chair has been working on developing student awareness of the non-profit sector via the renewal of the second year diploma supplement.

The chair has continued to act as a facilitator of exchanges between non-profit organizations and the business world. It has thus been meeting HR managers from the non-profit and private sectors as well as the managers of recruitment agencies to collect their views on bridges between the two sectors and is currently working on the implementation of a seminar on salary adjustment in the case of redeployment from one sector to the other.

With the creation of the Paris Executive Campus, a new structure devoted to executive education in partnership with Rouen Business School, the launch of the strategic plan Energy 2014, the renewal of its EQUIS accreditation…. Reims Management School has continued its efforts towards conducting its national and international development.
As a consequence of these numerous initiatives, RMS has just been ranked 19th among the best masters in management 2009 by the Financial Times thus surging up 7 places in comparison with last year.
The RMS foundation has contributed to this momentum by encouraging social diversity within our institution and by privileging pedagogical innovation.
Since its creation, the foundation has raised €1.6 m from partner companies and alumni, which have enabled it to finance more than 100 study grants as well as launch the Chair in Management of Non Profit Organizations and Social Business.
With regard to these results, we will be launching a new 2010-2012 development campaign aiming to raise € 1.2m to finance another 150 study grants, the recruitment of new internationally renowned professor researchers and to improve the material and pedagogical framework of the school.
You too can personally help the school take up these challenges by supporting the Reims Management School foundation.
Sincerely yours,
François Bonvalet,
Reims Management School Dean
Member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation

| >> Mobilization of London alumni in favor of an RMS foundation grant |
|
Last October 8th, funds were raised for the RMS foundation during a lecture-cocktail party organized in London by the school and the alumni of the London Club.

The £1,200 raised that evening will help finance the "London Club Alumni Scholarship".
The challenge has now been launched among the other
RMS Network clubs in France and in the world.

>> 130 runners mobilized under the banner:
“all in the race for the RMS foundation”. |
|
The team composed of RMS students, employees of the chamber of Commerce of Reims and Epernay and of RMS, ran on October 18th, during the 2009 edition of the Reims Marathon, under the banner “all in the race for the RMS foundation”.
Their mobilization contributed to make the foundation known to the general public.

| >> Focus on a donor |
Henri Hureaux, Grand donor, Cefa MBA 1992
Why have you chosen to support the RMS Foundation?
I love RMS both as a former student and a company leader, I believe this school provides, through its different programs, teaching that is very adapted to the constraints of our modern economic world. I am impressed by its ability to continuously evolve and adapt.
Which of the actions of the Foundation do you take most to heart?
The study grants. The idea that a potentially brilliant student may not be able to follow a program for economic reasons is intolerable, for him, as well as for his future employer and for his future class mates.
What would you say to future donors?
I would say that for a young foundation, the first donors have to be alumni. Here donations should be the rule and not the exception. It would be wonderful if all former students made a donation, even if it is just symbolic, to mark their support and thus encourage company support. |

Interview with
Audrey de Carvalho
a foundation grant beneficiary
for the third consecutive year
What is your background?
Born in Reims, I passed a baccalaureate ES (Economics and Social Sciences). After validating a first year in Applied Foreign Languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese) at the University of Champagne Ardennes, I chose to Join TEMA (a post baccalaureate school). This program has enabled me to acquire a double competence combining the fundamentals of management as well as strong basics in Information and Communication Technologies. Thanks to two long term responsibility internships in the third and fourth years, I have acquired a good knowledge of professional practices and of the mechanisms linked to the methodology of project management in the field of ICT.
What have been the benefits of the Foundation grant?
From a modest social background, I have had to finance my education myself. I have concurrently combined student jobs and studying from my first year at university to date. Thanks to the partnership between TEMA and the Ecole Centrale Paris, I am currently doing my 5th year within the Specialized Master in Technology and Management of the “Ecole Centrale Paris”. It is obvious that this specialization will prove a real opportunity for my professional project. But since the course takes place on the Ecole Centrale campus in Chatenay Malabry, I need a small budget for my living expenses in addition to my student job income. The grant, I have been awarded by the Foundation have made my studies possible.
What are your professional projects?
My fifth year in the Masters in Technology and Management will enable me to widen my scientific knowledge and to improve my ability to understand and work in an environment dominated by technical and technological dimensions.
Moreover, my student job as Internet communication manager at the Champagne Ardennes Regional Union of Medical Practitioners in the first and second year of TEMA enabled me to discover the healthcare sector and its specific problems. Moreover, beyond medical technical innovations, I am convinced of the positive organizational as well as economic impact of information and communication technologies on the French Healthcare system. Thus I have chosen to write my research project on themes which combine healthcare and ICT, my research question being: “The appropriation of information and communication technologies and of information systems in the healthcare sector in Champagne Ardennes, the importance of good practices”. Therefore, as a citizen, I wish to work in the field of information systems within the health care sector.
What message would you like to convey to the Foundation’s future donors?
Being a foundation donor is a citizen gesture, it helps students from modest social backgrounds to access top level higher education, thus giving them the opportunity to progress professionally and socially. Moreover, beyond the financial relief, this grant proves to be a true exhortation to pursue one’s studies. Once again I would like to thank donors for trusting us and believing in our potential.
